Value wins again.

Seventy-nine years of honest golf clubs, and the price tag still reads like a misprint. It is not a misprint.

CHICAGO. RAM Golf is one of the oldest names in the game, building clubs since 1947, back when a driver was made of actual wood and a fair price was considered normal. The company has spent the decades since doing one thing without apology: making golf equipment regular people can afford to swing.

The record backs it up. The Zebra putter, a RAM brand, won majors in professional hands. RAM Tour Grind wedges were played by tour professionals in the brand’s heyday. Today RAM is a value-focused brand, which is a polite way of saying the clubs below cost less than your last cart bill. Details in the classifieds.

Heritage, in brief

Chicago, 1947

A club maker is born

RAM Golf sets up shop in Chicago and starts building clubs the year 1947 has room for one more honest business. Seventy-nine years later it stands as one of golf's oldest brands, which in this industry counts as a minor miracle.

The Zebra years

Stripes on the trophy shelf

The Zebra putter, a RAM brand, rolls its way into major championship history in professional hands. Meanwhile RAM Tour Grind wedges earn a spot in tour bags during the brand's heyday. Not bad for a company that never charged like it.

The value era

Same name, saner prices

Today RAM is a value-focused brand, aimed squarely at golfers who would rather spend on green fees than on logos. The pedigree stayed. The markup did not. Local sources describe the arrangement as refreshing.

Three questions, correct clubs

RAM sells boxed sets through three dropdowns, not a fitting van: length keyed to your height, flex keyed to your tempo, and your hand. Answer the desk and it marks the matching listings in the classifieds below.

Question one

How tall do you stand?

Question two

How does your swing run?

RAM men’s sets ship Regular or Stiff; Senior flex appears on select sets like the Laser hybrid irons.

Question three

Which side do you swing from?

Left-hand RAM sets are listed as separate products, so the desk reads the fine print for you.

Answer all three and the desk prints your order card: length, flex, and hand, exactly as RAM’s own dropdowns ask for them.

Letters to the sports desk

Printed verbatim from the readers, spelling and all. The desk does not edit a good wedge story.

For clubs I love RAM wedges. They're cheap but incredible for the price. I got a 52, 56 and 60 for less than 100 quid and they do everything my 10 year old vokeys did as well if not better.

r/golf

I use RAM Golf Pro spin wedges. 90 quid for a set of 3 wedges is an insane deal for how good they are.

r/golf

im gonna get hated on but Ram Golf sells some good stuff for a high to mid handicapper. I have the accubar iron set 4h, 5h, 6-PW for $150. Forgiving, well made, and distance.

r/golf

At a fraction of the price of the premium models, it represents incredible value for money for a host of handicap ranges.

Tip Sheet

The RAM Report · Sports

Play smarter, pay less

Column one

Know your irons before you buy

A bargain iron set in the wrong flex is just an expensive rake. Two minutes in the fitting room tells you what shaft, lie, and loft your swing actually wants, so the classifieds above turn from a gamble into a steal.

Iron fitting →

Column two

Drivers: loft is not a rumor

Most golfers play too little loft and too much ego. The driver fitting sorts out launch, spin, and shaft weight before you spend a dime, which is the kind of math this paper endorses.
